Here you will see a list of color mutations that cockatiels come in. A color mutation is a certain color a cockatiel was bred to have. The color mutations we have currently available will be highlighted.

Lutino- (loo-TEA-no) Lutinos are either pure white, pure yellow, or an angelic mix of the two colors. They have no other pigmentations, not even the characteristic orange cheek spot that cockatiels are known for. their beaks and feet even have a whitish tinge to them. NOTE: Due to genetic reasons, many lutinos are known to have bald spots behind their crests. This does NOT mean that they are not healthy. It is mere genetics and does not interfere with any other normal aspects of the bird's life.

Pearled- (PURR-ulld) Pearled cockatiels were first bred in Germany so that their feathers would have a fish-scale appearance. There are three types- NORMAL-dark grey and yellow 'fish scales', LIGHT- Lighter grey with some white mixed in, CINNAMON- Grey is VERY light with a cinnamon tinge to it. They do have the orange cheek spots.

Pied- (PY-d) Pieds are usually a stunning mixture of black, yellow, and white. It results in beautiful, attractive patterns. They do have the orange cheek spots.

Wild Type- (WYLD-tipe) Wild types are the normal color that you would see in a cockatiel if it were in the wild. They have a body an almost COMPLETELY dark grey, with a yellow head. Obviously, they have the cheek spots.
